Great puppy gift from breeders
Im surprised that this item has not caught on its a great concept!! I came across this item before I left for canada to pick up a puppy and decided to take it with me. I brought it up there and had all the puppies in her litter play with red dog as hes called around here. I then had her breeder rub it in her hands and before I boarded the place I placed it in a ziploc bag for the plane ride home (she flew home on my lap) when I got home I brought it out of the bag after she had met all her new dog family members and you could see the difference in her it was like she never left her litter mates!!! You can heat it up for 30 in the microwave and put it in the crate with them and its like they are sleeping with their littermates. She loves her red dog!! Even after 2 years he will disappear (under a couch or bottom of a toybox) for awhile and then make a reappereance and she gets soo excited to see him again! I have never washed him so I cant tell you how he wears but after 2 years he looks pretty darn good...minus a tail that was lost to teething!! I love this item and when she has her puppies each one that leaves will be going home with their puppy cuddle aka red dog to help make the transistion easier and less tramatic!!

Very cute, smallish, puppy likes!
First, this toy is about as big as a large hand: if you are under the impression that it is large enough for a weaned puppy to lie on, look elsewhere! It is not a mat, but more of a small, flat, squarish stuffed animal. It might be small enough for a very young puppy, though ~ one not yet weaned.

That said, our puppy loves it. I gave it to the breeder to handle before taking new puppy home ~ as another reviewer suggested ~ and puppy was very sniffily pleased to encounter the warmed cuddle pal before her first bedtime in her new home.

We warm this each night and while I can't say it has "soothed" her in any noticeable way, puppy loves to shake and wrestle with this toy during playtime.

Nice product
My puppy really likes his pet pal and even though he tugs at it or shakes it alot, it's held up well. Very sturdy product.
